Privacy Policy for Cafe Carriage House

Overview

Cafe Carriage House is a small, editorial site. We publish essays and posts and do not sell products, run ads, or operate a newsletter. This policy explains what limited information reaches us when you browse the site or interact by leaving a comment, why we keep it, and how you can contact us about it.

What comes to us and how

You can read the site without telling us who you are. We do not run analytics, we do not embed advertising trackers, and we do not host on-site contact or signup forms.

Information reaches us in a few specific ways:

  • Web requests. Our hosting and caching/CDN providers receive the usual technical details sent by your browser when you load a page, such as IP address, user agent, referrer, the page requested, and the time of the request. These details appear in server and CDN logs and are used to deliver the site, keep it secure, and diagnose issues.
  • Comments. If you choose to leave a comment on a post, WordPress asks for your name, email address, and an optional website URL. WordPress also records the IP address and browser user agent associated with the comment to help with abuse and spam control.
  • Administrator access. WordPress sets session cookies for the single registered site administrator to manage the site. Visitors who are not logged in as administrators do not receive these admin cookies.

We use only essential cookies. We do not set analytics or advertising cookies.

  • Comment convenience cookies. If you leave a comment, WordPress may offer to save your name, email, and website in cookies on your device so you do not have to re-enter them next time. These typically last up to one year and stay on your device unless you clear them.

How we use information

We use comment details to publish your comment, communicate about moderation if needed, and manage spam and abuse. Your email address is not published with your comment.

Who can see it

Within Cafe Carriage House, access to any nonpublic information is limited to the site’s administrator for operational needs like moderation and maintenance.

Comments you choose to post are public, along with the name and website URL you provide. Your email address and IP address are not displayed.

How long we keep it

Server and CDN logs are kept for operational and security purposes and are discarded or aggregated once they are no longer needed.

Published comments are kept indefinitely so the conversation on a post remains intact, unless you ask us to remove yours or we remove it for moderation reasons.

Comment cookies on your device last up to a year unless you delete them. Admin session cookies expire according to WordPress settings or when the session ends.

Your choices and rights

You can browse without accepting nonessential cookies; we do not set analytics or advertising cookies.

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, such as a comment you posted and the email associated with it. You can also object to or restrict certain processing where applicable law provides these rights.

If you are in a region that grants a right to complain to a data protection authority, you may do so. We ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern promptly.

Children
